About Dr Jyolsna Somasundaran
Thoughtful and patient focused in her approach, Dr Jyolsna Somasundaran provides dental care centred on restoring function, comfort and long-term oral health. With advanced training in prosthodontics, Dr Jyolsna has developed a strong interest in restorative treatments that help patients rebuild their smiles and regain confidence in their oral health.
Completing her Bachelor of Dental Surgery in 2015 followed by a Master of Dental Surgery in Prosthodontics in 2019, Dr Jyolsna worked as a prosthodontist in India until 2024. During this time, she gained extensive experience in restorative and prosthodontic treatments, including complex cases involving full mouth rehabilitation. In 2025 she successfully completed the Australian Dental Council examinations and began practising dentistry in Australia.
A strong believer in preventive and minimally invasive care, Dr Jyolsna focuses on helping patients maintain healthy teeth and gums while addressing functional concerns such as damaged, worn or missing teeth. She places particular importance on creating a calm and supportive environment, understanding that many patients feel anxious about dental visits. Taking time to explain treatment clearly helps patients feel comfortable, informed and confident in their care.
Beyond clinical practice, Dr Jyolsna has a passion for learning and teaching. She enjoys sharing prosthodontic concepts with dental students through her YouTube channel, where she aims to make dental education simpler and more engaging.
Outside the clinic, life is centred around family. Dr Jyolsna is a proud mother to her young son and enjoys spending quality time together. In her spare time, she enjoys dancing, drawing and practising yoga and meditation. Contributing to the community is also important to her, and she has participated in hair donation initiatives to support cancer patients.

What Dr Jyolsna loves about dentistry?
Dentistry offers the opportunity to improve a person’s oral health, confidence and overall wellbeing. Dr Jyolsna particularly enjoys restorative and prosthodontic treatments, where she can help patients regain function and restore naturally looking smiles. Creating a comfortable environment where patients feel supported and less anxious is something she values greatly.
" I'm a big believer in the 2-2-2 rule. Brush your teeth twice a day, for two minutes each time, and pop in to see your dentist at least twice a year. This simple routine helps remove plaque, prevent decay, and means any dental problems can be picked up early. "
