Hani Amin is an Oral Health Therapist at Primary Dental Preston, bringing a broad range of clinical experience to the centre along with a calm, patient-focused approach to care.
After completing a Bachelor of Anatomy and a Bachelor of Oral Health at the University of Otago in 2015, Hani practised in New Zealand for four years before relocating to Australia. Those years covered community dental clinics, mobile school dentistry and private practice, giving Hani the opportunity to care for patients of all ages, from young children receiving their first dental visit through to adults managing long-term oral health. In 2025, Hani completed the Extended Adult Therapy Course at the University of Melbourne, further developing the restorative care provided to adult patients.
Preventive dentistry sits at the centre of Hani’s work, supported by particular interests in periodontal care, children’s dentistry and restorative treatment. Helping patients understand the link between healthy gums, good daily habits and long-term wellbeing is something Hani values, and appointments are shaped around clear explanations and practical advice that patients can carry home with them. Families appreciate the gentle, encouraging manner Hani brings to children’s appointments, helping young patients feel at ease and build positive associations with dental care from an early age.
Fluent in English, Somali and Swahili, Hani welcomes the chance to support patients from Preston’s many cultural communities in a language they feel comfortable using.
Outside the clinic, Hani enjoys time with family, mixed martial arts, hiking, beach walks and travelling to explore different cultures. Hani is also a supporter of the Peter MacCallum Cancer Foundation.
Seeing patients leave an appointment better informed and more confident about caring for their own oral health, and watching children grow more comfortable with each visit.
Good oral health starts with understanding. I enjoy giving patients the knowledge and confidence to look after their smile every day.
