Eligible children can receive dental care under the Medicare Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS). From 2026, the CDBS provides up to $1,158 per eligible child for basic dental services over two consecutive calendar years. It is available to eligible children aged 0–17 for at least one day of the calendar year where the child or family receives an eligible Australian Government payment.

You can check eligibility through your myGov account, by contacting Medicare, or by contacting the centre. The team can check eligibility and the remaining CDBS balance using the relevant provider details before you book.

CDBS can cover eligible basic dental services including examinations, X-rays, cleans, fluoride, fissure sealants, fillings, root canal treatment and extractions.

For adults, Primary Dental Port Macquarie does not bulk bill. However, eligible patients may be able to use a NSW Health Oral Health Fee for Service Scheme (OHFFSS) voucher for treatment with a participating private dental provider. Voucher types may include urgent care, general dental care and denture care. Same-day emergency appointments may be available depending on the dentist's appointment book. If you cannot see an appointment online, please call the centre and the team will do their best to find the earliest available appointment. If there is no immediate availability, you may be offered a standby appointment if a suitable opening becomes available.

We understand that toothache, broken or knocked-out teeth, swelling and lost fillings may require prompt attention. Please call as early as possible so the team can advise the soonest available appointment.

At Primary Dental Port Macquarie, an emergency appointment including a consultation and one X-ray is $136. This fee is indicative and may vary depending on your dentist and clinical needs. Additional X-rays or treatment, if required, will be charged separately.

For adult new patients, the Check-up & Clean Package at Primary Dental Port Macquarie is $229*.

For children aged 12 and under, the Children’s Check-up & Clean Package is $99*.

If you have private health cover, the team can process your claim on the spot. Your out-of-pocket cost will depend on your fund, level of cover and applicable benefits. Primary Dental Port Macquarie accepts all health funds and is a preferred provider for selected funds.
