Teeth Whitening

Having a clean white smile can help your teeth look fresh and healthy. Teeth whitening is a very common, non-invasive way to make your teeth appear lighter, yet still natural looking without the need for permanent veneers.

Why do our teeth discolour?

Repeated exposure to things like coffee, tea and alcohol can stain our teeth. That’s why having regular professional cleans can help keep your teeth looking good. However, cleaning only removes surface stains and if you want bolder results, teeth whitening may be a good solution.

Two whitening options for you.

Home Whitening involves a short appointment where one of the dentists will take impressions of your teeth. They’ll then prepare a take-home whitening kit for you which includes customised whitening trays and a special whitening gel. You should see a difference in just a few days and full results in around three to four weeks. Home whitening can be repeated every 6-12 months to maintain that clean, white appearance. Professional whitening gel refills can be purchased from your Primary Dental centre.

The In-Practice Treatment includes an express treatment session that usually lasts around 45 minutes. A whitening gel is placed on the teeth and the whitening process is activated using a clinically proven LED light.

Over-the-counter Whitening products may remove some stains or temporarily brighten teeth, but these products only work on the surface of the tooth and aren’t as effective as professional teeth whitening methods.

Your dentist is the best person to give advice on the whitening option that’s right for you. They’ll also help you minimise any tooth sensitivity or unwanted effects.
