Routine and preventative family dentistry

In addition to daily brushing and flossing, regular dental examinations are recommended every 6 to 12 months to ensure good oral hygiene is maintained. Routine check ups are also essential for the early detection of any potential dental problems.

After a comprehensive examination of your teeth and gums, your dentist will provide a thorough clean and apply fluoride to your teeth to ensure extra protection until your next appointment. For the detection of any hidden problems, x-rays may be required as part of your check up.

Should a problem be detected, simple preventative and restorative treatments may be used to treat problems in their early stages. Such treatments may include fillings, which are used to repair damaged teeth in the early stages.  When receiving a filling, the decayed tooth matter must first be removed before the area is cleaned and the cavity is filled with a putty-like substance.  A filling should effectively  block areas where bacteria can enter and prevent further decay.  You dentist can advise you on which treatments are right for you.
